With more than enough E3 reports already scattered across the web, there's little need to discuss further the details of Sony's impressive E3 conference. However, in yet another moment of self-indulgent rambling, my highlights from this year's E3:
The original God of War managed to take Playstation 2 to another new level, even after the incredible strides the console had made over the years. Somehow, the God of War series exploited yet more power from PS2, and I can see the same happening with God of War 3 on PS3. With interesting stories, incredible combat action and both gameplay and graphics polished to perfection, this game has real potential.
After deliberately avoiding the Prologue version, and then being confronted by an enormous wait for the full game, Gran Turismo 5 can't arrive soon enough, but a huge amount of respect has to be given to Polyphony Digital for holding the game back until they're completely happy. I'd much rather see Gran Turismo perfection in 2010 than a poor immitation this year or earlier.
Looking as stunning as God of War, but with action set pieces so exciting and elaborate that they literally haven't been seen before in games, Uncharted 2 has huge potential, and now features the vocal talent of Claudia Black, which has to be a good thing.
Although the surprise announcement of Final Fantasy XIV caused the biggest stir, it was the trailer for Final Fantasy XIII that kept my interest, with the next installment of the superb series getting that little bit closer. With Final Fantasy games holding the top two spots in my list of all-time favourite games, my hopes are inevitably high for Final Fantasy XIII.
As good as everything else Sony presented was, nothing stood out as magnificently as Team Ico's new title, The Last Guardian. For me, it wasn't just the superb visuals in the trailer, it was the incredible music, filled with emotion and power that could drive this game to perfection.
The FPS behemoth returns for a third installment, accompanied by multiplayer mayhem.
Head to the jungle to meet the disturbed inhabitants of a tropical island.
Combining the best elements of shooters, adventures and Bioshock-style powers: Dishonored.
Strategic shooting with a serious edge of difficulty with the return of X-COM.
Co-op amusement in Disney's adventure starring a couple of adventurous mice.
