When people think of Metal Gear, they tend to think of Playstation, despite the series not originating with Sony, detailed cutscenes, on a par with any lengthy film, and some of the finest stealth action ever to appear in a videogame. After two outstanding adventures on Playstation 2, in the form of Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater, Solid Snake arrives on Sony's latest beast, with extra-long cutscenes and, once again, some of the most enjoyable sneaking possible. Retaining all of the best elements of previous outings, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots skips forwards in the timeline to finally provide answers for many of the questions raised earlier in the series. With old faces returning, new threats emerging, more weapons than there are sticks to shake at stuff, and spangly high-definition villages and landscapes to explore, Guns of the Patriots seems to have lived up to the hype and expectation.
